Wasteland

What is Wasteland Amsterdam? All about the biggest fetish party in the Netherlands

Wasteland is a fetish fantasy extravaganza with locations in Amsterdam, Zaandam and Berlin. Since 1994, Wasteland has been the flagship of the international fetish scene – an evening where outfit, decor and performance come together to create one theatrical world. What began as an underground phenomenon in Amsterdam has grown into one of the biggest fetish events in the world. In this blog, you can read all about the dress code, the different editions, the locations and why this party is different from any other fetish party in the Netherlands.

What is the dress code for Wasteland?

The dress code at Wasteland is strict and creative. Strict, because casual clothing and normal going-out clothes are not permitted. Creative, because Wasteland goes beyond just leather and latex – it's about fantasy, theatre, and personal style.

The famous gatekeeper applies one simple test:

“If your outfit could be worn to another party without batting an eyelid, it probably doesn't meet the Wasteland dress code.”

In case of doubt, Wasteland itself recommends opting for leather, latex, rubber, or PVC. A black leather or latex basic outfit is enough to get in. But those who truly fit into the Wasteland world will add a theatrical twist.

Outfit ideas for the Wasteland: 13 styles that work

Where many fetish parties are limited to leather and latex, Wasteland encourages visitors to think further. These are the official dress code categories accepted at the door:

Fetish Glamourelegant and provocative clothing with a fetish theme, often made of leather, latex, or lace

Body Art: body art as costume, including body paint and tattoos

Fetish Animal: Outfits inspired by animals, with masks, ears, tails and accessories

Fetish-Burlesque: Theatrical and seductive clothing in the burlesque tradition

Cross-Dress: Clothing of the opposite sex, with an emphasis on fantasy and theatre

Fetish Medical: Medical fetish clothing: nurse uniforms, doctor's coats, medical accessories

Fetish Goth: dark gothic outfits with a fetish twist, often leather or latex

Fetish Steampunk: steampunk elements combined with fetish: corsets, top hats, mechanical accessories

Baroque: aroque-inspired costumes, richly decorated and luxurious

Uniforms: Diverse uniforms, as long as they have a fetish theme (no combat/army uniforms)

Learn: Leather garments such as a tight-fitting catsuit or an elegant leather harness are a classic and popular choice for making a bold and stylish statement.

Metal: outfits of metal parts or with metal accents

Plastic: garments made of plastic, tight and shiny

Latex: Latex outfits that fit tightly to the body with a shiny finish

What are you NOT allowed to wear at Wasteland?

The Wasteland bitches are taking a hard line. Not allowed:

Casual streetwear (jeans, T-shirts, everyday going-out clothes)

Fighting in army uniform

Outfits you could also wear to any other party

The doorman's decision is final. If the dress code is not adhered to, your ticket will not be refunded.

How strict is the door control at Wasteland?

At Wasteland, it's about more than just clothes; the dress code is a core part of the atmosphere. The famous durchbitch ensures that every visitor meets the high standard of creativity and imagination. In exceptional cases, outfits are physically inspected to assess compliance. Refusal will result in no refund of the ticket.

The dress code doesn't just look at material or amount of skin. Visible creativity and imagination weigh more than pure body exposure. Wasteland asks for a contribution to the atmosphere – your outfit should be part of the whole.

Wasteland takes place in a post-apocalyptic desert.

Wasteland has several fixed locations, depending on the edition:

Wasteland Amsterdam: North Sea Venue, Hemkade 48, 1506 PS Zaandam. Strictly speaking Zaandam, not Amsterdam. This is where Wasteland takes place twice a year.

Wasteland Berlin KitKatClub, Köpenicker Straße 76, Berlin. Annual edition in October, at the iconic KitKatClub location.

Wasteland Summerfest: Kaap Oost, eastern harbour area of Amsterdam. Open-air festival in July with a post-apocalyptic theme.

Wasteland Halloween Ball  RADION, Amsterdam. Halloween edition at the cultural melting pot ACTA.

First time at Wasteland? Here's what you can expect

Wasteland is more than just a party — it's a theatrical world where you, as a visitor, become part of it. Each party has its own atmosphere and theme, ensuring no edition is the same. Below is an overview of the different Wasteland parties.

Wasteland Amsterdam: the fetish main event at North Sea Venue

Twice a year, Wasteland Amsterdam takes place at the North Sea Venue in Zaandam. Thousands of visitors, 6 show stages, 4 dance floors, dungeon areas, lounges, massage, body painting, and catering. One edition lasts all night and is attended internationally.

Wasteland Berlin: Underground Edition at KitKatClub

Every year in October, Wasteland takes over the legendary KitKatClub in Berlin. This edition is known for its free and inclusive atmosphere. The dress code is the same as in Amsterdam, but there is a bit more room for “out of the box” creativity that doesn't strictly fall within the prescribed categories.

Wasteland Summerfest: Open-air fetish festival

In July, Kaap Oost in Amsterdam transforms into a post-apocalyptic playground. Wasteland Summerfest is collaborating with KitKatClub (Berlin) and Rapido (Amsterdam). For this summer edition, the dress code has been adjusted: fabrics are permitted, provided they are clearly part of a post-apocalyptic look.

Dress code inspiration for Summerfest: Post-Apocalyptic Warrior, Mad Max, Desert Nomad, Cyberpunk, Body Art, Steampunk, Baroque, Goth, Leather, Uniform, Army dress, Plastic, Latex, Metal, Cross-Dress.

Please note: East Cape has sandy ground – high heels are not recommended. Lockers are available.

Wasteland Halloween Ball: fetish meets mystery

Around Halloween, Wasteland is moving to RADION in Amsterdam. RADION is a cultural melting pot that experiments with boundaries. The combination of Halloween and the Wasteland dress code results in one of the most distinctive editions of the year.

Is Wasteland for everyone? On inclusivity and openness

Wasteland is built on inclusivity. All genders, bodies, and sexual preferences are welcome. The age range is from 21 to 91 years, with 21 as the minimum age. Wasteland attracts couples, singles, the queer community, and people trying out the fetish world for the first time.

The three house rules of Wasteland:

Consent is key. Touching without consent or any form of harassment is strictly forbidden.

Respect. Wasteland promotion tolerance — treat everyone with respect.

No photos or videos. Photography and filming are strictly prohibited to ensure the privacy of all visitors. Security and hosts will monitor this.

Why VoyeurX suits the Wasteland dress code

Wasteland accepts many dress code categories, but leather is always on the list. Leather combines easily with other categories – a Baroque twist with metalwork, a Fetish Glamour corset with the right finish.

VoyeurX is designed for nights where leather fits the dress code. Wasteland is one such night.

Designed in the Netherlands, made from real leather, with an adjustable fit. That fit is built on something simple: that you can move freely and enjoy the night. When you step in. After three hours of dancing. When the music changes and the floor fills up. Only then can a night like Wasteland be what it is.
